      Content: Proposition #3, Recreation, Arts, and Parks (RAP) tax, is a local option sales tax approved by the voters to be administered by Washington County and its municipalities. The funds generated would support the development or improvement of parks, trails, and recreational facilities within the County’s municipalities and unincorporated areas. RAP funds also support a variety of arts, cultural, and community interests throughout the County. The RAP tax is a 0.1% sales tax (1 cent on every $10 spent) that is distributed by the County and its municipalities. Both non-profit and government entities may receive RAP funds. The County and municipalities review RAP grant applications and decide how RAP funds are allocated. Because RAP funds go towards recreation, arts and parks, we know it is being spent on things that enhance our community and increase the quality of life. We are able to have improved parks and recreation areas and boost support for quality non-profit arts and cultural organizations. This means well maintained public sports facilities, improved recreation areas including accessible public trails. It means supporting great culture, art and entertainment in our community. Proposition #3, RAP tax, is something we can support because it goes towards things we enjoy, that make our community a better place to live. It is not a tax imposed on us by government leaders, but is something we vote for because we want to have the funds necessary to maintain and improve our quality of life for future generations.
